Becoming Licensed

If you’re considering a career in real estate—congratulations! You’re only a few steps away from a rewarding occupation. Professional REALTORS® enjoy flexible hours, work with an excellent group of peers, and experience the fulfillment of a satisfying occupation. Those in the field will tell you there is nothing more gratifying than helping a buyer find the perfect home, or assisting a homeowner with the sale of their largest investment.

Pennsylvania Real Estate agents must be licensed.

Individuals wishing to become licensed must complete two required courses, be at least eighteen years old, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.  The courses can be taken in any order.

After completing both courses, you may sit for the State Licensing Exam. Once you have successfully passed the exam, you will need to place your license with a real estate broker. At that time you’ll complete the appropriate application and will also need to perform a criminal background check  which can be run through this State Police website.
